Buyer Advisory
When dealing with a Malaysian supplier, check their ability to receive visitors at any time. If there are too many excuses, consider them a broker or a potential illegal trader. Most importantly, the seller must have at minimum a company certificate from MPOB and an AP Export Permit before they conduct any operation or trade on the local scene. If not, it is a red flag.
Beware of too-good-to-be-true deals. Some sellers claim to be Malaysian exporters but offer prices far below market rates. They may mix recycled oil or low-quality oil into their products. Many of our current buyers learned this lesson the hard way before partnering with us.
Market prices fluctuate. While the MPOB Reference Price provides guidance, actual prices vary based on USD-MYR exchange rates, seasonal stock availability, and government policies. For the best value, negotiate with your supplier and consider long-term contracts for price stability and mutual benefits.
